In August 2018, Cheyenne moved to Israel to volunteer as an English teacher at an elementary school in an orthodox town 10 miles east of Tel Aviv, called Petach Tikva. Six weeks into living in Israel, on October 6, 2018, Cheyenne’s new neighbor invited her to her friend’s “rooftop party” in Tel Aviv. Cheyenne said hell yea and off they went.
The house party happened to be a housewarming party for 3 roommates that rented a rad apartment in the center of Tel Aviv, in the most prime location.
During the party, Cheyenne and Kahana chatted, Cheyenne not knowing this was his home (there were 30+ people there), and Kahana shared that his birthday was the following day. Cheyenne asked what his plans were and he said he didn’t have any. Cheyenne said “OMG your birthday is in an hour and well— I’m taking you out!”
They never exchanged numbers but both friend groups met up the following night to celebrate Kahana’s birthday doing his favorite activity— seeing live music. Kahana asked his friend for Cheyenne’s number and before she could even respond, he decided to just add her on Facebook and message her. (This is when Cheyenne discovered his real name was not Kahana, but indeed Amit). He offered to help teach her how to play the Ukelele (even though he didn't even know how), because she spontaneously bought a Ukelele and didn't know how to play. Cheyenne accepted the "lesson" and that led to their first time hanging out and then their first kiss!
After leaving Israel in June 2019, Cheyenne said, "one year in Israel was enough. Thus, Kahana made the big international move in 2020!
Cheyenne had two dogs when they met in 2018- Bentley and Rasta. In August 2022, Bentley had to be put down after battling kidney failure at the age of 12. Rasta will be 13 years young after the wedding, going strong!
Five months later, Cheyenne saw a post on Nextdoor that someone found a kitten in their backyard, so she asked Kahana if they could adopt it, and he said yes! Meet Felis Domesticus!
Cheyenne's grandparents passed away in 2023, so C&K adopted their now orphaned 17-year-old cat, Rosie, who is dying of kidney failure. She is known as "hospice cat" and is still thriving today, around 19-years-young.
In 2023, Cheyenne's student had to give up her rabbit and told her mom that "Miss Asin will probably adopt it," and she wasn't wrong----- however this Bunny was a female to start off, but turned into a male very soon after adoption.... *mating like rabbits is a real thing*
Later in 2023, Cheyenne's coworker asked her to adopt her African Sulcata 50-lb tortoise, so she did, meet Tuga!
WOW HOW IS KAHANA STILL DATING ME!!! might I add------BEST HUSBAND EVER!
In 2024, one of Cheyenne's substitutes found a kitten that fell off a roof, so Cheyenne adopted it, and it has since then gone through hell, and is trying to die everyday, so Kahana purchased cat insurance for the creature. This cat is named "Roofie." Currently has a broken leg from falling off a tree branch, and is confined to a Great Dane crate.
In March 2025, Cheyenne was sad that Rasta was alone after we dog sat a dog (Scooter) for 4 years and had to "return" it, so they went to the humane society, and brought home a new dog.... Kahana chose a very fitting name for the goddess of love, beauty, sex, fertility, and prosperity (she had babies at a young age), meet Venus!
